Sydney University meeting on 25th September to consider its options and future plans for its boatshed

Sydney University has proceed, in accordance with its advice to Lane Cove Council, to review its options and plans for its new mega boatshed. We understood that the University planned to meet on 25th September. In fact we observed them deep in discussion on Cunninghams Reach Park on the morning of the 25th September (see photo below).

While at Cunninghams Reach we hope that they reflected on the unfortunate and misguided decision to develop their new boatshed plans around taking over the majority of our park there. Hopefully they were at Cunninghams Reach to say goodbye to this site as they may now agree with us, and with the majority of the community, that it is totally unsuitable to accommodate the scale of building which they say they need. Time will tell.

As there are many options available to them it may take some time for them to properly evaluate their best course. Our view is that they should take whatever time they need to plan and consult with local and state powers and with the community to find a suitable location away from Cunninghams Reach for their rowing club.
